Casal dei Fichi Newsletter New Year 2010 |
|
Happy New Year from Casal dei Fichi. We hope you have all had a good and relaxing Christmas.
For us 2009 was a fantastic year with more people than ever coming to Casal dei Fichi, it was a great pleasure to welcome familiar faces and old friends as well as new visitors to Le Marche. Looking back over the year we have some fantastic memories of fun times, as always, pizza night kept us entertained. Once again we introduced, or re-acquainted, many people to the wonderful Marche food, wines and countryside during the Gourmet Olive Breaks - check out this year's breaks starting on 5th and 12th November. Weddings.
We were delighted to organise the wedding of our good friends Neil and Fiona which, although a very small affair, went flawlessly on a beautiful late September day. We have 2 weddings planned here in May, we are honoured that Lisa and Lee have chosen us for their special event and particularly thrilled that Lucy and Andrew are coming all the way from Australia to celebrate their wedding in Francavilla d’Ete. We’re sure that they will be guaranteed a hearty Marchigiani welcome.
A hearty Marchigani meal on a Gourmet Olive Break For those considering a 2 centre Spring break we are easily accessible by train from Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan, Bologna... If you would rather travel to Italy by train don’t forget that our nearest main line station Civitanova is just a single change away from Paris. You could even fly to Ancona from Alghero in Sardinia (Ryanair). Environmental Concerns.
Like so many people we are increasingly concerned about the environment. We have always sought to be eco-friendly at Casal dei Fichi and have just published our environment page on our website. Here we list our 10 goals for 2010 so you can all hold us to our pledges!

Fiona and Neil, Sept 09 Building work. After a slow start work on our new building is virtually complete. This will give us a space to relax and enjoy the outdoors as well as providing a fallback venue for weddings, parties and even pizza night – in the unlikely event of rain. Below a cavernous garage provides much needed storage space and has meant that we have finally brought our vintage 1970 Alfa Romeo Spider home to Italy.
2010 Season. Despite the economic uncertainty bookings for 2010 are strong – although we still have availability for virtually all weeks throughout the year. Good news is that as well as the Stansted / Ancona flight Ryanair also fly from Ancona to Brussels and Dusseldorf. In addition they now fly to Rimini from Liverpool and Bristol, as well as East Midlands, Stockholm and Stansted. For our current knowledge of the flights serving the region please see our how to get to us page.

Winter work.
We now look forward to the year ahead, apart from a few weeks in February, we are always here and open for business if you want to experience Marche at a different time of year. Though mainly the next few months will be spent decorating and ensuring that everything is ready for the 2010 season. We look forward to seeing many of you again and welcoming new friends to Casal dei Fichi.
With very best wishes for a happy, healthy and successful 2010.
Tanti auguri per un felice anno nuovo.
Bob and Ian (and Balzo, Hattie & the cats...)
PS Thanks once again to all of you who have put comments on TripAdvisor. As we go into 2010 there are over 700 properties listed in Marche and, thanks to you, we have the highest rating.
