Summer comes early to Casal dei Fichi; Guests in May were treated to a flaming kick start to the summer this year as the temperatures soared into the high 30s and the pool touched 30 degrees. To ensure that the tropical feeling was maintained we also had summer trucked in with 3 palm trees which now complement the gardens.
Half term sunshine in October Don't fancy driving in Italy? Following the huge success and great media coverage of our Gourmet Olive Breaks we are running them again this autumn and still have some availability. As soon as you arrive at the airport you simply relax as we transport you around some of the beautiful sights and great venues of Marche. With fantastic food and wines (all included) you can indulge yourself for 4 days in the knowledge that, with a theme of olive oil, it must be good for you. The secret is out. We all want to guard Marche as our personal discovery and stop the hoards descending. Nevertheless we are delighted that Ryanair also recognise it's potential and are steadily introducing new routes to the area. Flights to Rimini include Bristol and East Midlands and Stockholm, Pescara airport is now a Ryanair hub and as well as Stanstead they now fly to Dusseldorf and Brussels from our nearest airport, Ancona. and it stays late. Although our summer calendar is pretty well full we do have a handful of vacancies in September and last year October was a beautiful month, our solar heated pool remaining open and in use into November. Talking of Brussels This year we welcomed our first Belgian guests, since when we have had a succession of 6 Belgian families. We have also seen our first Swedish, Canadian and Japanese visitors. It's been great to welcome new and returning visitors, sometimes for the 4th or 5th time, from all over the world. Celebrate! Planning a wedding or a special event? Casal dei Fichi is the perfect venue. We have hosted 2 weddings and have another booked for September and 2 for next year. We offer a full service including helping to arrange the legal formalities. For more information take a look at our celebrations page. Although it's taken a little longer than planned our new building is finally nearing completion. With huge picture windows it provides the perfect indoor fallback for the celebrations that we host. La cucina italiana. We still offer our guests the opportunity to spend some time learning the secrets of Italian cooking with Academy Chef Guida Stacchietti. Enjoy the opportunity to eat the meal you have created in the charming restaurant at the eclectic Il Maniero art club. La lingua italiana Our friend and former Italian teacher Diego has created an Italian language school in his home city of Venice. Why not spend a week there studying and seeing the beautiful city as only a native knows it and then catch a train down to Casal dei Fichi and practice your new skills? |
What else is new.
Apart from the palm trees - we have had the land behind the house prepared so that we can plant vines in the autumn. Look forward to our own wine in a few years time! Demolition of the old pig sheds created enough bricks to cover up some of the ugly copper chimneys and we finally have our own small balcony. A pergola provides shade for the more comfortable and harder wearing sun loungers.

Don't forget that in our quieter months we offer Raffaello as a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, with the capacity to sleep up to 8 people. From just £15 per person per night what more reason do you need for an off season get away (stunning scenery, deserted beaches, snow capped mountains, great and inexpensive restaurants, excellent wines...)

We are already taking bookings for 2010, if you want to be sure of your choice of apartment and week don't forget to get in early. For all bookings before December we are holding our 2009 prices and in addition there is always a 10% discount for returning friends!

And us ...
We're well and still enjoying La Dolce Vita, though 3 weeks in Australia in February were a welcome break. Roger is still busy but finds some time to make a little bit of progress on his own house. Balzo's eyesight isn't improving but he's much calmer and loves everybody, Hattie is as lively and lovely as ever. The kittens are 3 handsome young cats, sadly Pero didn't survive the winter but Mono and Thumper the rabbit are still thriving.
Even if it doesn't include a trip to Casal dei Fichi we wish you all a great summer.
