It is nearly two years since we announced that we were planning on moving on from Casal dei Fichi. Since then we have enjoyed two fantastic seasons welcoming back many familiar faces, guests who have become firm friends. We have also enjoyed meeting new visitors who, on discovering our corner of paradise, cannot believe that we are planning on leaving.
And we will never tire of sharing our knowledge of, and passion for, Le Marche.
In two months it will be twenty years since we moved to Francavilla d’Ete, we have never questioned that it is the best thing we have ever done.

But now, we have decided that our 20th year will be our last. We are talking to a lovely couple who are very interested in Casal dei Fichi and have exciting plans. We understand that nothing is certain until a deal is done, but we confidently state that whatever happens, 2025 is the last season that Bob and Ian will be hosting our weekly pizza parties. They’re going to be the best pizza parties ever!
Although many of our regulars have comitted to seeing us one more time in Le Marche, apart from a couple of weeks, we still have good availability for most dates.
While a charming couple of “digital nomads” take care of our home and cats and chickens, we are spending the winter in Manchester. The city that will become our next home.
Believe it or not, we are doing the right thing!
Regular photos from the housesitters make us homesick and question the wisdom of exchanging the Mediterranean climate for Manchester’s rain and occasional snow. But we are ready for city life, a tramline at the end of our street which whisks us into the city centre in 15 minutes, world class theatre, galleries and exhibitions and vibrant nightlife.
When we are living here permanently, exhausted by an urban lifestyle watching the rain hammering on the streets outside we will look at our photos, read the reviews and remind ourselves that those 20 years at Casal dei Fichi were the best days of our life. And that the most amazing season of all was 2025!

Ian and Bob, wishing you good luck with your move! We retired last year and have been busy travelling but if there is a gap in the calendar, we will certainly visit again. Sweet memories from your place and Le Marche!
