Meet Monique and Jeroen, last week we signed a binding contract with them and early next year they will complete the purchase of Casal dei Fichi.
Monique and Jeroen spent 2 nights with us in May and decided that their many years of searching for the perfect property for them was over.
Before they left, we had reached an agreement, 5 weeks later papers were complete and last Friday, on 20 June 2025, we shared a video call with Monique and Jerone, their grown up sons, Pepijn and Xander and Monique’s mother to drink a toast to the future of Casal dei Fichi. Under new ownership in 2026.
The sale will be finalised early next year and Monique and Jerone plan to continue running Casal dei Fichi as holiday apartments, keep on doing the pizza parties and changing little. Obviously they will make improvements and update the property and put their own hospitable stamp on Casal dei Fichi. They are also planning on running courses and workshops in the shoulder months which we are sure will be a great success.
Living here has been our dream come true and we are certain that we are handing over to a couple who will put all of their passion into running Casal dei Fichi. We know that they will get as much reward from the lifestyle as we have for the last 20 years.
In the meantime, as we promised, we are loving our final season. Most weeks we bid tearful farewells to regular guests who have become good friends but we know that we will stay in touch and see each other again in the future.
We have bookings up until the middle of October but we also have some availability, even in July and August. So – if you want to hear Bob say “flour your bottom” and laugh, as if he’d never said it before, we’d love to see you here, one last time!
