Easter Getaway The great news is that Easter is particularly late this year (20th April) so why not take advantage of the longer, warmer days to get away and forget about those winter blues. Easter is a fantastic time to visit Casal dei Fichi, drive to the Adriatic and enjoy long walks on the sandy beaches rewarding yourself with a delicious fresh seafood lunch, or head to the vineyards and pine woods of the Conero Peninsular, also great for walking and visiting some of the region’s best wineries. Many villages maintains their tradition of performing elaborate passion plays. Amongst the most spectacular, in our neighbouring village of Mogliano, moves through the village telling the story from the last supper through to the crucifixion with the drama of the trial scene along the route with Romans in full costume and soldiers on horseback. It is a fascinating insight into the Italian love of spectacle.
Travel Just an hour from us, Ancona airport’s network is expanding, Ryanair are meeting the growing demand and their summer schedule now includes 2 flights a day on both Tuesday and Saturday from Stansted Airport. They also serve Stockholm, Dusseldorf and Brussels. Many of our visitors arrive via Bologna’s growing network and with direct services from (amongst others) Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, Oslo and London Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted there are plenty of options. The airport is just minutes from the motorway which brings you directly into Marche, then it’s just left, right and left again to get here! Town and Country
If you aren’t restricted to public holidays then why not visit Marche in May. It is by far our favourite time of year, the days are long and sunny, everywhere is green and vibrant, almost daily you can watch the sunflowers shooting up. Festivals are ramping up as the communities transition to outdoor living. So why not kick start summer and get some early rays with a spring break. Subject to availability we are happy to accept midweek bookings and aren’t constrained to full week stays so maybe try a few days in a new city: Urbino (opposite), Sienna, Perugia, Modena, San Martino (or Venice or Florence or Rome…) and then unwind with a few days at Casal dei Fichi? We’re happy to give suggestions and help with travel itineraries.

Car Hire Although it is possible to manage without a car we do strongly advise all of our guests to hire one and the roads around us are generally quiet and pleasant to drive on. Most of the rental companies have offices at all the airports. For those who are apprehensive of driving on Italian motorways there is now the option of renting a car locally, our local scrapyard has grown its sideline and how has a selection of good quality cars available, often at very competitive prices, please contact us for more information.

Green Shoots We know that, despite the reported economic recovery, times are still hard for many people and we are pleased to confirm that in 2014 we will be maintaining our prices for the third successive year. We don’t claim to be the cheapest but we feel that do we do offer very high standard apartments and facilities which are much more spacious than many others in the region and the price you see is the price you pay with absolutely no extras.
