A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us in the Eco category in the Shortyz awards, we’re delighted to say that we won. Since the judging was based on a public vote we are so grateful that you all supported us and made us number one.
We’re also happy that Shortyz chose to include an Eco category, highlighting the growing importance that environmental issues play in the holiday industry. For all of us that genuinely care about our holiday businesses the protection of our planet and environment seems like a no brainer. And in this crazy gone mad world, long after the current problems are forgotten, combating climate change will remain the greatest challenge.
You will have noticed that Italy has been disproportionately hit by Coronavirus, so another big thank you to everyone who got in touch to check that we’re ok, and sent us good wishes. At first we had to confess to being far away from it all, sailing a yacht in the Caribbean. Travelling home from London proved problematic as flights keep getting cancelled but we finally made it via Switzerland and a succession of the few remaining trains running in Italy.

Back at Casal dei Fichi we have to maintain 2 weeks’ quarantine, having been abroad, but the weather is glorious and we have plenty of work to do, like pruning the olive trees. The local supermarket delivers, as does the vineyard! We don’t know what the coming months hold, we are certainly not expecting a busy season but everyone planning on visiting us has pledged their commitment to coming, again we have been touched by people’s loyalty.
