March 8th is International Women’s Day. A reminder that we can work to make a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Here in Italy it is marked by the genteel tradition of giving a posy of mimosa to women as a symbol of strength, sensibility and sensitivity. It is also a beautiful vibrant yellow flower which blooms abundantly at this time of year and brings real feeling of spring to homes and gardens.
Here at Casal dei Fichi it is a reminder that summer will soon be here and before long we will be welcoming guests to Casal dei Fichi, in many cases seeing familiar faces we haven’t seen for 2 years. We can’t wait to fire up the pizza oven and engage with friends old and new.
If you are itching to get away for some early summer sunshine why not visit Casal dei Fichi, May is probably our favourite month of the year, the days are long and warm, the countryside still has the freshness of spring, the sea is warming up but the beaches are practically deserted. It’s a great time of year for discovering mountain walks or just exploring vineyards and restaurants. Life in Italy has pretty well returned to normal, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues are open with government issued vaccination records universally accepted under the ‘Green Pass’ system including from North America and the UK.
Airlines have now opened up their schedules to our local airports, Ancona and Perugia, with some excellent deals available*. Remember that outside the summer peak we welcome guests for shorter stays with arrivals any day of the week so why not discover a new city like Verona, Assisi or Spoleto and move on to Marche on Italy’s excellent train network? With the extended June public holiday in the UK you can enjoy a well earned getaway and save on your annual leave.
