We never know what the farmers will plant in the various fields around us, grain, sweetcorn or just leave them fallow with occasional sheep grazing. But every year we hope that at least one of them will be sown with sunflowers. Imagine our delight when a few weeks ago we noticed sunflower plants popping up all around Casal dei Fichi.
This means that although we cannot make any promises about the weather, though it’s a pretty safe bet, we can guarantee that anyone who is here at Casal dei Fichi from late June through to early August will be greeted by the heart warming views of sunflowers, or girasole, smiling at them.
Le Marche is already in Italy’s yellow zone, with restaurants open, and on June 21 we are scheduled to enter the white zone, Italy’s category with the least restrictions related to minimal covid cases, that means that life here will pretty well return to normal with bars, restaurants and beaches fully open. Of course some restrictions will continue to apply.
And remember that here at Casal dei Fichi you can enjoy the security of your own apartment with its private garden, a full kitchen for those looking to cook the delicious local produce as well as an ozone disinfected 15m pool with plenty of space to find tranquil sun or shade in our large landscaped gardens. As ever we are on hand to offer our advice and suggestions and we are relieved to report that we are both double-jabbed.
This is also the season for olive blossom, this year the number of the tiny cream coloured flowers on the trees way surpasses anything we have ever seen. It’s a great portent for a bumper olive crop in the autumn, so if you’re not ready to travel just yet but are looking to get away later in the year why not think about an autumn break and experience the sublime taste and aroma of freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil. The days are often warm and sunny well into October, our pool is solar heated and guests have used it into November before now.
